Young people in Newton-le-Willows are invited to join a free gardening and outdoor crafts club, launching this spring at BFY HQ on Sturgess Street, Earlestown.
The Children’s Gardening Club, run by local charity Business for Youth Newton-le-Willows (BFY), begins on Saturday, 8 March 2025 from 9.30-11am, with sessions becoming fortnightly as the growing season progresses.
Open to children aged four and above, the club offers a packed programme of activities including garden preparation, seed sowing, growing flowers and vegetables, and building birdboxes. Participants will also learn about the environment and take part in outdoor crafts. Each session begins with breakfast, and children can look forward to surprise visits throughout the season.
The Children’s Gardening Club members will also be helping out with many of BFY’s year round initiatives, including maintaining the Garden of Remembrance and seasonal planting in Earlestown Town Centre.
Places at the Children’s Gardening Club are free but registration is required. Parents can request a registration form by messaging Business for Youth via their Facebook page or by emailing businessforyouth.nlw@gmail.com.
