What is Newton-le-Willows News all about?
Newton-le-Willows News was launched in September 2020. We’re a community-focused positive news and lifestyle website for people living and working in Newton-le-Willows and Earlestown.
We want to celebrate all the good things that go on in our communities – the dedicated local volunteer groups, fantastic local events, businesses, services and places that make Newton-le-Willows and Earlestown so great.
We aim to:
- To celebrate and recognise the people, places and events that make us proud to live here.
- To champion local businesses and entrepreneurs, helping people choose to ‘shop & spend local’ and support the local economy.
- To keep people living and working in our communities up to date with events, news and information that has a positive impact on their lives.
Newton-le-Willows News is edited by me – Gemma Melling. I’m a former journalist and currently a digital content specialist, as well as being a mum of three girls. My husband Tony runs a small local business, too.
I live in Lowton, and the first local website I launched was Lowton & Golborne News, in May 2017. I decided to set up a second site for Newton-le-Willows because I know many people in Lowton & Golborne, like me, love to eat out or use small businesses in Newton – and vice versa. With so many independent businesses in our areas, I hope to bring everything together to help us all grow and thrive.
You’ll notice that when you click through to your Local Directory or Events Calender, you are currently diverted back to Lowton & Golborne News. That’s because the dedicated directory and events guide for Newton-le-Willows and Earlestown is still under construction – but in the meantime, we are adding all businesses and events to these pages, so you don’t need to miss out on anything.
