Sea Cadets create stunning Remembrance display

by Gemma Melling

Congratulations to Newton Sea Cadets, who have completed this incredible poppy installation ahead of Remembrance Day this weekend.

The cadets have been busy creating this giant artwork, with help from local schools, community groups, care homes and individuals who’ve been making poppies to be added to the netting.

The young cadets have been working on the creation for many weeks – and it is now hanging proudly outside their HQ on Cross Lane, where it can be admired by people attending this weekend’s Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday events.

Writing on their Facebook Page, Newton Sea Cadets said particular thanks must go to The District CE Primary School; Wargrave House School & College; Business For Youth in Newton-Le-Willows; InSpire To AsPire AuTism Support UK; 21st St Helens (Newton-Le-Willows) Scout Group; Newton Library Knit & Natter Group and Elm Tree House Care Home, as well as all those individuals who donated poppies, too.

The finished display, ready to be put into place at The Sea Cadets HQ.

We think the poppy display looks pretty spectacular – a huge well done to everyone involved!
