Dancers earn starring role in Christmas panto!

by Gemma Melling

Oh yes they did! Nine of the young dancers at a Newton based school have successfully auditioned for parts in this year’s pantomime at The Brindley Theatre in Runcorn.

The talented young people from Alexandra Jane School Of Dance will be taking their place on the stage for Sleeping Beauty later this year.

The chosen performers to become juvenile dancers in the show are local children Melissa Benbow, Scarlett Kearns, Isla Robinson, Libbi Hillam, Amelia Fahey, Jessica Cunliffe and Evie Bridge. All were selected having beaten off some stiff competition – more than 80 dancers from all over Halton, St Helens and Merseyside auditioned for parts.

Meanwhile,  Charlotte Toone and Tina O’Brien, also from Alexandra Jane School of Dance, secured themselves one of 12 positions as a senior dancer.

Charlotte Toone and Tina O’Brien from Alexandra Jane School of Dance will be Senior Dancers in the performance of Sleeping Beauty.

Principle of the dance school, Miss Alexandra Lewis, said: “I am extremely proud of all of the children. They work so hard week in week out and it’s nice their hard work is paying off.”

Rehearsals will now begin in earnest for Sleeping Beauty – which will run from 9 December 2023 until 7 January 2024.

Tickets are available now on The Brindley’s website.
