Kids Christmas party a festive success

by admin

There were games, laughs, Santa… and even a fun snowball fight at the Business for Youth children’s Christmas party!

The event was held at St Patrick’s Social Club and more than 80 children came along to enjoy festive entertainment, supplied by Ultimate Party People.

It is the eighth year in a row that Business for Youth has held a free Christmas party for children, and is just one of the many ways that the charity supports the local community.

At the party, every child in attendance received a party food box and also got to visit Father and Mother Santa.

Terry Maguire, Chairman and Trustee of Business for Youth, said: “It really is a joy to watch so many children enjoy themselves. We feel extremely proud to provide such an event for free, allowing all to enjoy our party without the burden of any costs in such difficult times.

“As charity we rely on donations and small grants that we apply for to enable use to create such events.”

And the Christmas cheer doesn’t end there!

Now, Business for Youth will be focusing their efforts on opening their Christmas Grotto.

Now in its fourth year, their Joys 4 Joys appeal gives local disadvantaged families a Christmas to remember – without the financial worries.

Business for Youth collect donations of Christmas gifts and take nominations from schools for families who would benefit from receiving them.

In the run up to Christmas, those families are invited along to the Business for Youth Santa’s Grotto – where the children receive presents from Father and Mother Christmas – as well as all the elves! In addition, the family will receive vouchers to help them with their Christmas shop. It really is a lifeline for some families – and makes precious memories for children, too.

This year, for the first time, Business for Youth are also opening the Grotto to the general public over one weekend before Christmas – on 18 and 19 December. No nomination is required. This Saturday, 18 December, the grotto is for invited families but on Sunday 19 December you can come along between 10am – 2.30pm – just turn up, no appointment needed!
