Home Children and Young People Mothers’ Day Walk spreads the love

Mothers’ Day Walk spreads the love

by Gemma Melling

Families from across Newton-le-Willows turned out to join in a very special Mothers’ Day Walk this weekend.

The event, organised by Business For Youth (BFY), was a lovely occasion designed to bring families together and make all the precious mums – and all those strong female role models – feel extra special.

There was also pause to remember mums who’re no longer with us, centred around BFY’s Memory Garden and tree, where messages to lost mums and nans were pinned.

Afterwards, the assembled families walked together to Lyme & Wood Country Park – a pleasant 3k stroll in the Sunday sunshine with lots of friendly conversation had.

Once in the park, Friends of Lyme & Wood invited the walkers to their compound and lodge, where all the mums received bunches of daffodils, a cake and a glass of bubbly.

Children were kept happy with a Mothers Day themed drawing competition and refreshments.

Well done to everyone involved!
