There’s a new shop on Newton High Street – with a new offering that means men will no longer need to travel out of the town to buy their fashion.
Sixty High Street is the brainchild of married couple Andy and Lisa Phillips-Baynes – both fashion designers with more than 25 years’ experience.
The talented couple have long been designing clothing for high street brands such as Matalan, Next and M&S, until they decided to try a different aspect of the fashion industry.

Andy, who has lived in Newton all his life, explained: “I’m a born and bred Newton-le-Willows, I’ve been here all my life. The amount of guys who come up to me and say there’s nowhere for them to shop locally for clothes – they have to go into Manchester or Warrington – and it’d be easier if they could just go down the road to the High Street.
“That gave us the catalyst for the idea and we thought it’d be nice to bring a bit of fashion back to Newton-le-Willows, and give something back to those guys who haven’t had a shop that’s for them on the High Street for many years – that’s the idea behind the shop.”
The result of Andy and Lisa’s experienced eye is a carefully curated collection of clothing and accessories for men, with the shop mainly aimed at young professionals or family men aged over 28.

As well as some brilliant everyday wear, Sixty High Street also stocks golf attire and activewear style clothing – perfect for any local men into golf, rugby or football.
And setting up the business has been a family affair – with everyone pitching in to get the shop ready for opening day on Friday, 1 August 2025.
Lisa said: “We’ve had so much support. The whole family have really got involved to help pull it all together. It’s been blood, sweat and tears for the past few weeks – but we’ve done it!”
