New volunteer sessions to help improve Red Brow Woods

by Gemma Melling

A new series of woodland volunteering sessions begins at Red Brow Woods from Monday, 28 April, offering local people the chance to help improve this important green space while meeting like-minded people and learning new skills.

The sessions will take place every Monday from 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm. If you’d like to get involved, you’ll be provided with all necessary tools, equipment and PPE you’ll need – you just need to wear comfortable clothing and suitable footwear.

Red Brow Woods, located near Sankey Valley Park off Bradlegh Road (WA12 8RA), is an important local natural habitat that benefits from community care and attention.

Sharon Trubshaw, who is coordinating the initiative, said: “These volunteering sessions are perfect for anyone who enjoys being outdoors and wants to make a positive contribution to their local environment. No prior experience is needed – just enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved.”

The project is being supported by Groundwork, Community Fund, and Wargrave Big Local, highlighting the collaborative community effort behind the initiative.

Activities during the sessions may include pathway clearing, invasive species management, planting, and general woodland maintenance tasks appropriate for all ability levels.

Booking is required for all sessions. To reserve your place or find out more information, contact Sharon Trubshaw at sharon.trubshaw@groundwork.org.uk or call 07783 156429.
