Gymnasts, puppeteers, dancers, singers, musicians and comedians all took to the stage for the finals of ‘Newton Has Junior Talent’ last week.
The competition had entries from schools right across Newton-le-Willows, with heats taking place throughout the last term before summer.
The young performers were whittled down to the very best of the bunch and competed for the 2024 titles at an event held at Hope Academy on Saturday, August 31.
Judges said it was incredibly hard to pick winners, with just a few points making all the difference. In the end, the winners were as follows:
- Third – Laylah from St Peter’s, for her gymnastics display.
- Second – Libbi from Wargrave Primary, for her impressive tap dancing.
- First – Emily from Newton Primary, for her performance of Matilda.
At the final there were also musical performances from singers and pianists from local schools, as well as the Business for Youth Samba Band, all of whom further showcased the depth and range of talent among the young people of Newton-le-Willows.

Newton Has Junior Talent was organised by Business For Youth in Newton-le-Willows (BFY), and supported by local schools and many businesses.
Congratulations to all the winners, and well done to everyone who took part!
