Congratulations to two Newton-le-Willows schools who have been nominated for awards in this year’s Educate Awards!

The shortlist for this prestigious annual event has been revealed, with nominations for schools and colleges from the Liverpool City Region, Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Lancashire.

Here in Newton-le-Willows, Hope Academy is shortlisted in the Outstanding Commitment to Sport and Physical Activity in Secondary School category.

Meanwhile, there are three nomimations for Wargrave House School and College. They are shortlisted in both the ‘Community Partnership Award’ and the ‘Most Inspirational 16-18 Provider’ . But that’s not all, Tara Thomas from the school is nominated as this year’s ‘School Support Star of the Year’.

About the Educate Awards

These regional awards showcase the work of schools and colleges which are delivering outstanding education and helping students achieve their full potential. With more than 21 categories, the shortlist recognises inspiring teachers, dedicated support staff and strategic leadership teams.

The awards, in partnership with Copyrite Systems and Ricoh, are the largest education awards in the region and will take place at Liverpool Cathedral on Friday 19 November.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Educate Awards, and organisers hope it will be extra special after2020’s ceremony had to be held virtually due to the pandemic.

Kim O’Brien, founder of the Educate Awards, said: “A huge well done to the schools and colleges who have made this year’s shortlist.

“After a difficult 18 or so months, it is extremely important that we recognise the amazing schools and colleges which have supported students, families, staff and the wider communities during the pandemic. The calibre of entries was absolutely incredible and deciding on the shortlist was a really difficult process.

“As 2020’s ceremony didn’t take place in its usual format, we are excited to be planning a spectacular event which makes up for last year. We’ll be revealing some really exciting new details over the next few weeks so keep an eye out!”

Kim added: “We look forward to celebrating with you all on 19 November!”
