Sign up now for garden waste collections

by admin

Households in Newton-le-Willows and Earlestown can now sign up for a permit for garden waste collections for 2024.

The subscription period will run from Monday 4 March 2024 to Friday 6 December 2024. The collection charge is £42.50 per bin (a £2.50 increase on last year). The sooner you subscribe, the more collections you’ll get.

Sign up now, and your permit will be posted out week commencing Monday 5 February. Later signups should be aware that it can take up to ten days for your permit to be delivered.

If your garden waste is due to be collected before your permit arrives, you can attach a note where your permit should be, stating the property address and your unique reference number. This will allow the operational team to identify bins eligible for collection.

Grass cuttings, leaves, flowers, plants, weeds, privet or hedge clippings, small branches and twigs can all go in your green garden waste bin.

St Helens Council says around 30,000 households in the borough subscribe to the scheme, and around 7,200 tonnes of garden waste is collected and recycled each year.

How do I sign up to the garden waste collections?

To subscribe visit www.sthelens.gov.uk/gardenwaste or call the council’s Contact Centre on 01744 676789.
